Elle y pr\u00e9sentera une communication le 6 f\u00e9vrier dans le cadre du colloque <em><a href=\"http:\/\/welt-der-kinder.gei.de\/en\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Children and their world. Knowledge and interpretation of the world as portrayed in nineteenth and early twentieth-century textbooks and children&rsquo;s literature<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">La communication de Catherine s&rsquo;int\u00e9ressera \u00e0 la fa\u00e7on dont les diff\u00e9rents peuples de la terre sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s aux \u00e9coliers dans les manuels de g\u00e9ographie canadiens publi\u00e9s au XIXe si\u00e8cle. En examinant \u00e0 la fois le texte et les illustrations, elle explorera les diverses th\u00e9ories (climatiques, \u00e9volutionnistes, etc.) qu&rsquo;utilisent ces manuels pour d\u00e9crire le monde non-occidental. La construction rh\u00e9torique de l&rsquo;alt\u00e9rit\u00e9 qu&rsquo;on y d\u00e9c\u00e8le est inspir\u00e9e de divers discours h\u00e9g\u00e9moniques de la p\u00e9riode (imp\u00e9rialisme, orientalisme, racisme, allochronisme&#8230;).
